Hey, I'm Vicky!

I'm a software developer who codes with empathy.

About Me

From a young age, I have always been fascinated by technology and how it could be used for good. Inspired by popular web games at the time, I began tinkering with websites and taught myself HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. In high school, I joined my school's robotics team as a software engineer and would write code for our robots to compete in competitions.

In my professional career, I have worked in various domains. These domains include cybersecurity, e-commerce, invoicing, and payments.

In my free time, I enjoy working on my passion projects. One of these passion projects is a love letter to the browser games I played as a kid: a browser-based game engine. Another favorite project of mine is a command-and-control interface for automating drone flights.

Projects

Deep Sea

This project is a love letter to the browser games that inspired me to get into web development. This browser-based game engine utilizes the Canvas API to render game components and is complete with features such as collision detection, sprite sheet parsing, and more.

C2_UI

Inspired by my fascination of drones, I created a drone command-and-control interface for automating drone flights. This project is built on Nuxt and uses OpenLayers as a map provider.

Live CTA Map

After learning that the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) has APIs for retrieving the live coordinates of every bus and train in its system, I was excited to build something with it. As a proof-of-concept, I built an API that fetches the live locations of all CTA vehicles and a web page that displays them on a map. This project uses the CTA Bus Tracker and CTA Train Tracker APIs as data providers and OpenLayers for visualizing vehicle locations.
